Wenwu Temple

The Confucius Hall at Wenwu Temple is the only Confucius temple in Taiwan with its central gate open. According to the temple, the gate was opened simply for the convenience of the many visitors and has no special meaning.
With its back against the mountains and facing the lake, Wenwu Temple is majestically situated and offers beautiful scenery. It serves as the spiritual hub for local residents and is a popular spot for worshippers.
From the observation deck at the back of the temple, you can get a panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake. The expansive vista offers a sense of embracing the world with great magnanimity.

Christian Church

Jesus Hall at Sun Moon Lake is hidden among the trees on the mountainside of the Hanbi Peninsula. From the church, you can take in a panoramic view of Sun Moon Lake.
After the 921 earthquake, the outer living quarters and dormitory cracked and tilted. The Sun Moon Lake National Scenic Area Administration restored the building, reopening it to the public in 2003. Since then, it has become a popular spot for both domestic and international tourists to take wedding photos.

Longfeng Temple

Sun Moon Lake is known for its beautiful and picturesque natural scenery. Originally, a “Matchmaker Temple” (Yue Lao Temple) was built on Lalu Island, modeled after the one in China’s West Lake. However, it was destroyed during the 921 earthquake, and the statue of Yue Lao (the Matchmaker God) was moved to Longfeng Temple, where it remains to this day.
Locals believe the Matchmaker God is very effective. Single people visiting Sun Moon Lake should definitely make a trip to the temple to pay their respects.
